"Rose, before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic ! And you know what ? So was I."

I was looking at AzizNatour's own Mosaic and thought to myself. That's pretty neat. I wonder if it's possible I could make a mosaic, not from known images, but from frames of a video ?
So I chose Doctor Who, Chris (my best friend's) favorite, the pilot episode, and found a picture I liked, saved that off.
Then I brought up VirtualDUB and proceeded to extract out every second of the 44-minute video as individual images. And that worked out to be 2628 frames in all.
Had I done every single FRAME in the video it would've been over 66,000 pictures and I figured that would be too many to work with (and I might be there a-while doing it besides)
From there, instead of using a standard 4x3 familiar grid I wanted do something different so I mixed up the layout and scrambled them thoroughly and by doing so, I managed to use up every single one of the 2628 frames with no repeats.
So there are no duplicate frames in this whole picture ! That's pretty neat when you think about it.
And as you can see, some are forwards, upside-down, backwards, mirrored, and rotated, and carefully calculated to make the picture mosaic what it is.
As with all my work, both artistic and literary, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to enter them below and I will be more than happy to respond.
I'm glad you like it ! And yes it was a LOT of work. What really taxed my computer was getting out all those frames and saving them out as individual .BMP files.
Likely I'll do something nice for Jon Pertwee, my favorite of the Doctors in the future.
Thanks ! This was unbe-freakingl-lievably difficult to do I think you can imagine ! And it will be my first and last Mosaic unless my friend Chris requests the latest doctor, Matt Smith, and so far he hasn't. However, my favorite Dr is actually Jon Pertwee, a blast from the past and I like him for his quiet compassion and Fatherly ways not seen from the other Doctors: [link] And curiously the first doctor I was introduced to in the series was Peter Davison when I saw it on television years ago with my Dad. He was my favorite until I saw Jon Pertwee and then fell in love with his passion and protective demeanor: [link]
Nice job!
